…and how did you get here, anyway?
LBo is an expired project. And still, some 50 people from all continents (except Antarctica) come here each day since the old tutorials have been restored. This is something that really excites me.
So what I would like to know is: Do you actually find what you were looking for? Why did you come, what did you search? Are the old tutorials – some outdated, some timeless – enough? What are your questions, what are your Linux-problems? Is there anything the linux community can do for you right now?
You can’t all be crawlers or bots – so please tell us in the comments
Yours,
Stefan
I came here from http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/suse-linux/111809-how-save-screen-output-text-file.html but the link (http://linuxbasics.org/course/book/chap_05) leads to a page that doesn’t exist anymore. An answer on that forum solved my problem but this website looks very interesting; I will definitely take a look around!
Thank you very much for the feedback. The “LBook” is actually still available at Archive.org’s waybackmachine. I added page-stubs so the forum link does actually goes someplace and does not throw that ugly 404-error anymore.
It’s good to hear from you,
Stefan
Right here is the right web site for anyone who hopes to understand this topic.
You know so much its almost hard to argue with you (not
that I actually would want to
Hey, Lacey!
I know your comment is SPAM, that’s why I removed the URL.
But since your opinion is so flattering, I will simply live with your lie and keep the comment
Just following a 5 year old link from the comments section of the Twiki site. Not really looking for anything specific, or have any problems, but just like to look for tips and tricks that people have.
My job requires some Linux, I WANT to keep eating, so I need to get started with the basics.
http://www.ubuntux.org/very-basic-linux-ubuntu-tutorials referred me to this page. It’s a very old post, but old posts usually have helpful links (unless it’s spam).
I decided to try ubuntu out of sheer curiosity but new OS’s are usually very confusing for a former lifelong Windows user; so I decided to look for tutorials on the ever so handy internet. I guess I’ll lurk around for those timeless tutorials you mentioned, however I’d be thankful if you could link me a few in advance.
A good place to get info on using Ubuntu 12.04 is at their site. https://help.ubuntu.com/12.04/ubuntu-help/index.html
There is a lot that can be learned about Linux or Windows for that matter, but learning to use the OS is where most of us start. Ubuntu has changed the way the desktop works beginning with version 11.10. At first I didn’t like the change, but now that I’ve used Unity for a while, I’m liking it.
This site is listed in the installation guide of the latest version of Foswiki under here:
http://foswiki.org/System.AdminSkillsAssumptions
I came from the Foswiki-Installation-guide.
I need to refresh my linux knowledge and want to improve my skills.
I would like to see linkage to irc.freenode.net #lbo official chatroom with official chats on sundays, as I’ve been idling in there for god knows how long without a single friend to talk to
I’ll keep holding up the fort till someone comes along to rebuild the userbase
Ah, fond memories, gehidore. I think I’ve forgotten how to use IRC.
I don’t know what I would talk about. In the very beginning we helped people with problems with Linux in between just talking about this and that. Eventually it was chatting about cats and fish and there just were no problems with Linux any longer.
Hi – its jsut google, i was looking for some Linux Basics wiki i heard about:)
